Data Scientist - Quantitative Finance

Summary

Scope Ratings GmbH is looking for a highly reliable colleague with strong technical and analytical abilities to join the Quantitative Analysis & Modelling (QAM) team.
QAM is responsible for the quantitative rating model development at Scope Ratings and provides quantitative support to the different franchises of the Scope Group. We build tools that support our rating analysts at various stages in the rating process, ranging from data analysis and data mining projects to numerical simulation engines. 
As Scope grows, we are looking for a data scientist with a strong affinity to technology, to work with us on our data models, data infrastructure and data analysis projects.
 

Duties & responsibilities

  • Work with our rating analysts to create data driven rating models
  • Design and implement data pipelines in coordination with our IT colleagues
  • Improve our data handling processes
  • Visualise our data for internal users and our customers

Professional & personal qualifications

  • Mid-level experienced (3y+) data scientist with a solid understanding of data models. 
  • Good knowledge of standard Python packages, cloud computing and object relational mapping techniques.
  • Experience with Relational Databases (PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server).
  • Familiar with general ETL/ELT design and development. Knowledge of data pipelines (e.g. Airflow, Data Factory) is a plus.
  • Experienced user of business intelligence tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong affinity towards technical challenges.
  • Interest and motivation to learn the practical insights of credit rating analysis.
  • Interest in capital markets and financial products.
  • Highly reliable and with attention to details.
  • Ability to work in a team and independently as a self-starter without close supervision. Self-drive and versatility are very important.
  • Highly critical, curious and able to think outside the box.
