Summary
The Structured Finance team is looking for an intern with strong statistical and technical skills to work with us to help rating analysts increase their efficiency through automation, data science and engineering.You will be part of a committed and professional international team of structured finance specialists spread across Europe. Scope has built a strong track record in rating high-profile public transactions for NPLs, SME CLOs, RMBSs, CMBS, Auto ABS and trade receivables.
We are looking for a candidate to be based in either Paris, Berlin or Frankfurt for a duration of a minimum of six months.
Within our team, you will have direct responsibilities to propose, create and implement technical solutions to help rating analysts in their day-to-day jobs under the guidance of experts. We expect a strong sense of ownership and responsibility from the intern to be able to provide solutions and present them to our senior management.

Duties & responsibilities
- Propose and implement solutions to increase the efficiency of the credit rating process, through:
- Data extraction,
- Data mining and statistical analysis,
- Data viz.
- Participate to projects related to new methodology developments,
- Sustain the operational efficiency improvement in the Structured Finance team.
- Analyse credit performance data (delinquency, defaults, prepayments, recovery) and derive analytical assumptions.
- Support analysts building models under various including advanced programming language for a large diversity of structured finance projects.
Professional & personal qualifications
- Enrolled university student in a renowned program. Previous finance experience is not necessary when you have very strong mathematics, physics or engineering education.
- Strong statistical skills.
- Masters-level students or higher.
- Experience in one or more programming languages such as Python or R.
- Experience in handling databases and usage of SQL.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong affinity towards technical challenges.
- Interest in developing a career in quantitative finance.
- Interest and motivation to learn the practical insights of credit rating analysis.
- Highly reliable and with attention to details.
- Ability to work in a team and independently as a self-starter without close supervision. Self-drive and versatility are very important.
- Highly critical, curious and able to think outside the box.
- Fluent proficiency in English is a must. Other European languages are a plus.
